Ever wandered past a neighbour’s front garden and wondered what that lovely purple plant was? Or spotted something growing in your own flower bed that you definitely don’t remember planting? You’re not alone — and thanks to a surprisingly handy iPhone feature, you don’t need to be a plant expert to get answers.

Tucked away in the Photos app is a little-known tool called Visual Look Up, and it can identify many common plants, flowers and trees in just a few taps. No need to download an app or scroll through Google results — if you’ve got an iPhone running iOS 15 or later, you probably already have it.
