New street names raise eyebrows as Bowlands Hey expansion rolls on

New street names have been revealed for the fifth and final phase of the controversial Bowlands Hey development in Westhoughton. Among the proposals are Cloverfield, Hayloft, Old Fence, Herdgate and Bale Stack or Bale Barn—names that nod to the site’s agricultural past.

Other suggestions include Stonewall, Farrier, Furrow and Millpond, with the list appearing to be designed to root the new streets in the heritage of the land they’re replacing.
