Why did Absolute bar in Westhoughton close down?

Absolute Bar Ltd, the company behind a once-promising bar on Market Street in Westhoughton, has officially been dissolved after accumulating more than £48,000 in liabilities.

The company behind the bar at 23 Market Street was dissolved on 3 December 2024, according to a final notice from Companies House. It had been trading as a private limited company since June 2020.

Accounts filed in January 2024, covering the year up to 30 June 2023, painted a bleak picture. The bar was over £48,000 in debt, with creditors far outweighing its assets. Its liabilities had tripled in just one year, rising from around £16,000 in 2022 to more than £48,000 by mid-2023.

Throughout its short life, the company remained a one-person operation, employing just one individual, according to the records.

A pattern of strike-off attempts

The company’s filing history reveals a troubled timeline. Three separate strike-off notices were issued between 2022 and 2024, all for failure to meet basic filing obligations.
