Six teenagers filmed on roof of Westhoughton Library
Youths use scaffolding to access roof of historic building undergoing urgent repairs

A group of up to six teenagers were spotted on the roof of Westhoughton Library on Friday afternoon, prompting concern from local residents.
The incident was captured on camera by a shopper in the neighbouring Aldi supermarket. The teens appeared to have gained access via scaffolding currently in place for external repair work on the building.
Shaun Partington, one Westhoughton resident, wrote on Facebook: "There were six kids. My two weren't up there with them but I just b-llocked the lot of them and told the rest to tell their parents that they had a b-llocking from me."
Other residents were less than impressed by the teenagers' antic. Heath Stringer said "let them fall and learn a lesson", while Nicola Bennett said: "sort your scummy kids out".
Westhoughton Library, a Grade II-listed building dating back to 1906, has been undergoing urgent repair work after a section of masonry fell from the façade last year. The scaffolding was erected to allow for essential exterior restoration.
