Greater Manchester Police have issued a call for information following a rise in reports of vehicle break-ins in Westhoughton — but say no official reports have yet been made.

PC Clitheroe said officers had become aware of a spike in thefts from cars in the Church Street area after posts were shared on social media.

Despite the online discussion, GMP confirmed that no victims had yet reported the crimes directly to the police.

PC Clitheroe is now urging anyone affected — or anyone who may have seen suspicious activity — to come forward and share information. Reports can be made by calling 101 or submitting details via the Greater Manchester Police website.

Information can also be passed on anonymously through Crimestoppers.

Local officers say they are keen to explore all lines of enquiry in order to identify and apprehend those responsible.
