An articulated lorry has overturned at the busy Aldi roundabout on Logistics North in Over Hulton, causing major disruption to local traffic on Thursday afternoon.

The vehicle, which appears to have been carrying a load of timber or wooden debris, flipped onto its side near the junction of the A579 Salford Road and Four Lanes, damaging a street light and spilling its contents across the road.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene. A section of Salford Road next to the Red Lion pub has been closed off by police, with traffic being diverted away from the affected area. Firefighters and recovery crews are working to clear the wreckage and safely remove the vehicle.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At just after 2pm on Thursday (May 22) two fire engines from Atherton and Bolton fire stations attended an incident in which a lorry had overturned on a roundabout between Salford Road and Watergate Lane, Over Hulton.
