ThickSkin Theatre in Wigan has announced a wave of new appointments as it continues to build its reputation for bold productions and opportunities for northern talent.
The company has secured £40,000 from the Jerwood Charitable Foundation to support its Associate Placement Programme, which helps emerging artists develop their careers.
Among the new recruits is Manchester-born Anna Berentzen, whose directing credits include Leave No Trace at Buxton Opera House and All I Want for Christmas at the Royal Exchange Theatre. A former participant in the Royal Exchange’s Young Director scheme, she co-founded Hawkseed Theatre and has worked with the RSC, Factory International and Buxton Opera House.

She will work closely with Artistic Director Neil Bettles on the company’s programme while receiving support to develop her own practice. “This is such a unique experience to learn from a vibrant theatre company in the North West, whilst being an active member of the artistic team,” she said.
