A hardy group of 11 volunteers braved the rain in October to plant 600 daffodil bulbs at Hall Lee Bank Park as part of Westhoughton Town Council’s autumn planting initiative.
The “big plant” was one of several activities taking place across the town to bring extra spring colour to local parks and green spaces.
Councillors praised those who took part, describing it as a great example of community spirit in action.
As part of the same initiative, Councillor Alison Jackson hand-delivered daffodil bulbs to local primary schools, while other bulbs were given to Central Park Bowling Green and the Friends of Westhoughton Station to encourage further planting across the community.
The bulbs are expected to bloom next spring, adding a splash of yellow to some of Westhoughton’s most popular parks and public spaces.
