Daisy Hill have been left counting the cost of damage left by Storm Claudia that caused Saturday’s game against Nelson in the Edward Case Cup to be postponed.
On Friday afternoon, the powerful winds and heavy rain that battered the Ginge Power Stadium ripped away a large section of the roof of the main stand, resulting in damage to pillars, a wall and an area near to the changing room entrance.
The club is having the damage assessed in the next day or so and will then face not only the challenge of carrying out the essential repairs, but addressing the financial costs that will be involved.
Vice Chairman Colin Higson said: “This is obviously a big blow to us, at a time when the team has been playing well and the pitch is in good condition.
