Community members come together at Pennington Hall Park to celebrate Pride in Leigh.

Marking its fifth year, Pennington Hall Park was bursting with colour, warmth, and celebration for this year’s Pride in Leigh. Even the flowers seemed to bloom in shades of the rainbow, reflecting the joy and beauty of the day. From the moment people stepped into the park, the atmosphere was full of life, families laughing together, friends reconnecting after time apart, and a strong sense of community spirit in the air. With a vibrant mix of live performances, artisan and community stalls, a bustling bar and food vendors, there was something for everyone to enjoy and a real sense of celebration throughout the day.

The event featured live performances from Serotine, a Dolly Parton tribute act, Ruth Wilson, and Chelsea— Versatile Female vocalist. Drag queens Miss B Brookes, Good Golly Ms Jolly, and headliner Jordan Sass also lit up the stage with their vibrant and unforgettable sets.

Families and friends spread out across the park with picnic blankets and camping chairs, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

There was a sense of ease in the air, a feeling that everyone truly belonged. Children ran freely through the park, laughing and playing, many with faces painted in the vibrant colours of Pride. Others took time to relax, lounging on picnic blankets, soaking up the sunshine and the uplifting atmosphere. The artisan and community stalls brought an extra layer of creativity and colour to the day, offering everything from handmade gifts and Pride-themed crafts to resources for families, local charities, and support groups. Everyone was included, and everyone was welcome. Event staff and volunteers were thoughtfully scattered throughout the park, offering support, guidance, and friendly smiles to those attending.

Ruth Watson took to the stage and delivered a lively, fun-filled performance featuring an array of hits that effortlessly connected with the audience. Performing crowd favourites like Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club,” it wasn’t long before people flocked to the impromptu dance floor in front of the stage, singing and dancing with infectious enthusiasm.
