CMB are the new holders of the Bolton Hospital Cup after defeating Daisy Hill 3-1 in this year’s final at the Neuven Stadium in Radcliffe.

Two goals from Charlie Scholes either side of a Jake O’Brien penalty for Daisy had CMB ahead at the break, and veteran striker Carl Grimshaw added a third goal five minutes into the second half.

Daisy applied some late pressure in the second half in attempting to get back into the game, but the CMB defence held firm to see them through to victory, and lift the trophy for the first time since 2021 in front of a healthy attendance of 1122 spectators.

The game got off to a lively start, with Daisy’s speedy front man Liam Sheppard prominent in the opening minutes, and he had the first chance of the game when he outpaced the CMB backline but screwed a shot across the face of goal.

The trophy was presented to the CMB skipper by Peter Gray, the Chairman of the Bolton Hospital Cup committee, and John Galloway from Speed of Sight, the nominated charity for this year's competition.

But it was CMB who opened the scoring with their first chance of the game in the 6th minute, after winning a free kick on the edge of the box when Dec Baldwin was penalised for a challenge on Ben Thornton.
